Samuel Batista is an alto saxophone player born in Panama City, Panama and the first musician in his family.
In 2009, he won a full scholarship through the Panama Jazz Festival to participate in the Five-Week Summer Performance program at Berklee College of Music.
He was subsequently admitted to the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and left Panama for one year.
In 2012, he moved to Boston to study at Berklee under a prestigious presidential scholarship. He has since gained admission to the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. He currently works as the bandleader of the Third Land Quintet, which has been together since 2015.
The quintet is in the process of recording its first EP.
